Lincoln Highway Johnny has taken that last big journey, somewhere only a vagabond road artist like him could go.
Johnny had many journeys along these roads in this great country that he loved, detailing its characters and sights in his artwork and crafting stories for any pair of ears that might pull up a chair and stay for a tale or two.
While these journeys have now come to an end, his vision and legacy lives on in all of us who he inspired to see the world with an artist’s eye. As you pass a painted telephone pole or see marker for the Lincoln Highway, as you drive by those shining spots of historical curiosity, and as you meet your own cast of characters in your own journeys, keep the vagabond road artist in mind.
